Through the Regional Peace Summit 2006, we were able to identify
strong leaders in our community that have the gift of story telling and the
courage to tell their stories in order to spark change in the minds, hearts,
and spirits of other young people that are going through similar struggles.
Because these young people have made it through "the madness" of violence,
they are effective in reaching and motivating others to make a positive
changes.

Barrios Unidos - Virginia Chapter provides trainings and seminars
focusing on community building with a focus on gang prevention,
intervention, and outreach.

- The Gathering
- The Gathering offers non-violent direct action
training with the wisdom drawn from the history of the Civil Rights Movement
and its non-violent strategies. Our elders connect young people to the
importance of non-violence. Like SNCC, the youth divisions of SCLC, NAACP
and CORE as our tactical models, we envision the possibilities of reclaiming
our children from the system that takes them from the cradle to the
penitentiary.
